YATOM Micro-Grant Program
For families who are fostering or who've adopted a vulnerable child,
YATOM: The Jewish Foster & Adoption Network is excited to announce our new micro-grant program to support families immersed in Jewish values who've taken the step to foster or adopt!
The mitzvah (commandment) of loving the vulnerable child (yatom), of welcoming a child into your home to provide stability and security, is not without challenges - financial and otherwise. Our YATOM micro-grant program is designed to provide a boost of financial support to make the journey of brightening a child's life through the warmth of a loving home a little easier. Our financial support up until now has been limited to those families starting their fostering journey. Now, we intend to support families who are already committed to fostering children.
Our YATOM micro-grants program will provide grants between $500 - $3,000. To be eligible for the micro-grant, potential grantees are requested to kindly answer the following items and submit them to our grants committee.
In 1 short paragraph for each of the items below, please describe the following (no more than 1 page total):
- Tell us about your current fostering or adoption journey,
- Share any financial challenges of your fostering journey that you may have experienced up to this point,
- Provide additional details that you feel are pertinent to your grant application: how you will utilize the funds, what adoption/fostering means to you, how do Jewish values influence in your household, etc.?
As the prophet Isaiah thunders: “Devote yourselves to justice; Aid the wronged. Uphold the rights of the vulnerable child” (Isaiah 1:17). In all that we do, YATOM is committed to ensuring that there are resources in place to aid families on their foster/adoption journey. We were founded on the ideals found in the holy words of Torah, that no child should live without support, recognition, or love. We are so proud that we are able to assist families pursuing this noble path.
Requests for the most current round of grants have closed.
We look forward to receiving your applications.
Blessings,
The YATOM Board of Directors
